freshbaked duo to represent Wales in World Corporate Golf Challenge
A duo from freshbaked Business Services Group will represent Wales in the World Corporate Golf Challenge taking place in South Africa later this year.
The team made up of managing director Richard Matthews and client relationship manager Rhys Williams qualified for the World Final, which takes place 4th-9th May at Fancourt and Oubaai golf courses located on the Eden District Municipality of South Africa, after winning the Welsh final of the championship at St Pierre Golf Club in Chepstow.
The World Corporate Golf Challenge is one of the largest and most exclusive corporate golf events in the world. Since its inception in 1993, over 750,000 business executives from around the globe have participated in this prestigious event.
The team from freshbaked, who will be going to the competition on behalf of Pink Panther Digital Solutions, will compete against corporate teams from some 30 countries for the week-long tournament which is due to be aired on Sky Sports.
Richard Matthews, managing director of freshbaked, said: “It’s a great honour to represent our company and Wales at the World Corporate Golf Challenge in South Africa. Although this is a corporate sports event, the level of competition has already been extremely high but we are confident of putting up a good fight during the final next month.”
Former Cardiff Blues player, Rhys Williams, said: “I’ve always enjoyed playing golf but since I retired from rugby last year, I’ve been playing a lot more. Golf is a great game for business. You can go out on a golf course with your clients and share a challenge, as well as the joys and the agonies that often come from playing the game!
“It’s great that tournaments such as the World Corporate Golf Challenge recognise the inextricable link between golf and business and while I’ve represented Wales in South Africa for rugby, I’m looking forward to going there and representing Wales for golf.”
