freshbaked staff to take on canoe challenge
freshbaked™ Group staff are starting preparations for a gruelling two day canoe challenge next month.
Alongside COS – the Complete Office Solution and Carlyle Finance, freshbaked™ will be taking to the water to raise money for Right to Play, a charity that uses specially-designed sport and play programmes to improve health, build life skills and foster peace for children and communities affected by war, poverty and disease.
Staff from the trio of businesses will be challenged to a 40 mile paddle down the River Wye starting in Glasbury and finishing in Hereford. Expected to paddle in open canoes for eight hours a day, the challengers will then camp beneath the stars.
Hoping to raise plenty of money for the organisation, which is committed to improving the lives of children and young people in the most disadvantaged areas of the world, including Africa, Asia and the Middle East, the three businesses are expected to raise funds through individual fundraising and sponsorship.
Says Richard Matthews, managing director of freshbaked™ Group: “We’re really looking forward to this paddle challenge. We’re hoping the British summer will be at its best and the water is not too choppy. Over the next month, we’ll be committed to raising money for this worthwhile cause and building up our stamina to take on this challenge!”
Says Michael Emery, Deputy National Director for Right to Play: “We are incredibly grateful to freshbaked™ Group for their support for Right To Play. At Right To Play, we ask people to “challenge yourself, change the world” – all the money raised will go to helping the most disadvantaged children to learn through sport and play, and through Right To Play we will make sure the money they raise will make a big difference on a global scale.”
