freshbaked battle it out in Office Olympics
While the eyes of the world have been on Wales’ gold medal winning Olympian Nicole Cooke, yesterday the attention turned to the Office Olympics 2008 where a team of four from freshbaked battled it out to become champions.
The one-off Olympic event, hosted by freshbaked PR’s client COS, saw teams from Admiral, Thomas Carroll, Melin Homes and Natural Power Wales, compete in ten themed games – mouse hammer throw, flipchart paper plane throw, waste paper bin basketball, mail sack race, internal mail sack relay, mouse mat discus, waste bin long jump, operator chair sprint, the five o’clock dash and jumbo pencil javelin.
With funds going to Right to Play, a charity that uses specially-designed sport and play programmes to improve health, build life skills and foster peace for children and communities affected by war, poverty and disease, COS hoped to raise £1,000 from the day’s events.
The team at freshbaked - made up of managing director Richard Matthews, Damian Kelly of freshbaked Communications and Emma Breeze and Lyndsey Jenkins of freshbaked PR – came away with two golds, two silvers and two bronze medals on the day.
Richard Matthews, managing director of freshbaked Group, says: “Olympic fever is definitely gripping the nation at the moment so it was great to get into the spirit of things and compete in these games. The events developed by COS had the ‘freshbaked four’ fired up and we were delighted to come away with several medals.”
Managing Director of COS, James Emery, says: “We put on this event so that workers in south Wales could join in with the spirit of the Olympic Games instead of merely watching them from their sofa at home. Our Office Olympics put a fun twist on the games over in Beijing and raised money for a really worthwhile cause.”
