Local businesses bid to beat the credit crunch
A leading office and stationery supplier is celebrating after winning a contract with recruitment and training group Acorn as both businesses pledge to support other Welsh businesses in a move to minimize the effects of the credit crunch.
Barry based COS – the Complete Office Solution – has been chosen by Acorn to supply equipment and stationery to their head office in Newport and its branches across England and Wales.
COS was awarded the £100k contract, which will be spread over the next two years, following a competitive tender against a number of UK office suppliers.
The family run business, which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2008, impressed the panel with their wealth of experience, green credentials, as well as the quality of service it provides to its clients.
On the contract win, James Emery, managing director of COS, said: “To win a major contract with Acorn is fantastic news for COS. As an office products supplier we understand the complexities of meeting the demands of a multi-site business like Acorn, as well as the importance of ensuring a seamless and consistent service.
“The new partnership also demonstrates the benefits of local businesses supporting one another – particularly at times of economic uncertainty. It is important for companies to look to invest and spend their budgets locally where possible, which in turn will provide an immediate benefit to the Welsh economy.”
Andrew Scott, Finance Director of Acorn said: “Acorn is pleased to be able to support another excellent Welsh business through the award of this contract. COS has a longstanding reputation for reliability within the regional business community, and the extent and flexibility of their service was key to ensuring that the supply across our branch network remained efficient and is responsive to the needs of the business.”
