New business club targets high performers
New business club targets high performers Inspirational and accomplished speakers from the world of sport, business and commerce are being brought together to launch a new business forum next month.
The ‘High Performance Society’, which has been developed by Midas People Management, aims to provide leaders from organisations across all sectors with an arena to learn, share and network with other ‘high performers’ in Wales.
The inaugural event, entitled ‘when the going gets tough’, will take place at the Vale Hotel, Golf & Spa Resort on 20th May and will explore the issues surrounding leadership in the 21st century, including how to manage talent and lead a business in times of adversity.
Delegates will hear from talented achievers including marketing and entrepreneurship expert, Jonathan Deacon, Newport Business School, chairman of Cardiff City Football Club, Peter Ridsdale, former director of rugby at the Llanelli Scarlets, Phil Davies, new Head of Performance Development at the WRU, Joe Lydon and former MP Michael Portillo.
Simon Goldsworthy, founder of the High Performance Society and Managing Partner of Midas People Management says: “We have developed the High Performance Society to provide Wales’ movers and shakers from the world of business, sport, politics and media with a chance to be a part of something different, gain new contacts, and a platform to share experiences and knowledge.
“Sport and business have many common themes – motivation, leadership, change, performance, results-driven – by putting the two worlds together, we aim to mutually inspire, learn and enjoy.
“I see the first event as a reaction to the negativity surrounding the recession and a call to arms for leaders to step up to the plate. It’s the start of the fight back. Lessons from “high performers” will be presented in a structured format, and the room will be full of people willing to share experiences.
“The event is definitely a management learning experience and to further enhance the day a selection of sports and media talents will be in attendance for example, Jonathan Davies, Ieuan Evans, Nicky Piper, Stuart Cable, Sara Edwards, Paul Thorburn, Brynmor Williams, Eleri Sion, Colin Charvis, Adrian Hadley, Nigel Owens and Non Evans.”
Adds Ian Price, Assistant Regional Director at CBI Wales: “I will be attending because in these trying times, if we are investing our time and money, then we need an event that will engage, inspire and add real value. To lead our people, to retain and motivate our top talent then when the going gets tough we need an event that will offer something outside the norm.”
