Zenith unveils new £1.5m press
A Treforest-based promotional packaging company has officially launched its brand new £1.5 million Heidelberg B1 press.
Zenith Print & Packaging and its retail arm Zenpak unveiled the state of the art printing technology to business partners, suppliers and clients including The Royal Mint, the Wales Millennium Centre, Bluestone Holiday Resort, and Fabulous Welshcakes at a recent open day.
The additional press will allow Zenith to double its capacity and meet a growing demand for printed material on a wider range of substrates, including plastics, corrugates, high density boards and wood-based products.
Zenith Print & Packaging is the leading manufacturer of high quality bespoke collector coin packaging supplying the numismatic market globally including the Royal Mint, French Mint and over 30 other countries around the world. To finance the new press, which is the first of its kind in Wales, Zenith received funding from both its owner company Irish-based Wymoon Capital Limited and grant aid from the Assembly Government's Single Investment Fund, allowing the company to keep its business in Wales.
Ken Bell, managing director of the company says: “As our owners are based in Ireland and the majority of our numismatic business is based abroad working with the likes of the French Mint, Austrian Mint and Mint of Finland, there could have been grounds for us to move our business to central Europe, however we wanted to keep our business in Wales and with this investment from the Welsh Assembly Government we are now in a position to stay put. We are grateful for their support and look forward to developing our business on the back of this investment.
“Our new Heidelberg press truly is tomorrow’s technology here today and is the highest specification printer of its type in Wales. This state of the art printing technology will allow us to double our business in the next five years and will extend the range of materials we can print on providing a consistently high quality print results for our clients.”
Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones said: “I very much welcome Zenith's investment in state of the art technology. It is a very significant demonstration of the company's confidence both in its business prospects and in its future as a Wales-based manufacturer. The Assembly Government's support for Zenith's investment also demonstrates our own willingness and ability to assist companies with the vision to prepare now for future growth. "
Sales director Jim Todd and his team represented Heidelberg during the Zenith Open House and commented: “We are proud to be the chosen partners to Zenith and believe the new Speedmaster press will provide their customers with the chance to work with a wide range of substrates and produce exciting new products which should help the business and keep Zenith ahead of their competitors in this specialist market.”
