IT entrepreneur launches online TV portal company

The award winning entrepreneur behind Welsh technology company IT3.com has launched a new online TV portal business as more and more organisations look to digital marketing to make their business stand out from the crowd.

Life on Show is the brainchild of Adam Price who has developed bespoke software to provide companies with an online video platform that they can then use to promote their organisations to the world and also create content driven revenue streams giving them the ability to be their own online broadcasting company (OBC).

The first company that is taking up this innovative offering is Cardiff & Co the body that has been established to market Cardiff as a world class visitor destination. Cardiff & Co are the first UK city to sign up to the City on Show platform, utilising an individually branded web-based environment.

Designed specifically for the tourist industry, City on Show is a destination portal that enables visitors to the site to find out more about the city through interactive video streaming and also provides b2b marketing opportunities for local businesses.

The City on Show online video platform will enable Cardiff & Co to easily be in control of creating its own city online TV portal through uploading videos of tourist attractions, hotels and nightlife and then monetizing the site through advertisements from sponsors. Revenue generated will be reinvested into other Cardiff & Co marketing initiatives.

Adam Price says: “Video is now proving to be the next big thing on the internet and its popularity can clearly be seen by looking at sites like You Tube. We’re looking to take this popularity forward to businesses making it more accessible and more affordable to the masses.

“There are 66 cities in the UK that could benefit from providing visitors to its websites with dynamic and engaging content and our aim at City on Show is to be the ‘You Tube’ of the destination marketing industry.”

With plans to penetrate the tourism industry in the first instance, Adam and the team at Life on Show are already in talks with other city councils and official tourism bodies around the UK before moving into the sports industry with Sport on Show.

Richard Thomas, managing director of Cardiff & Co says: “We had worked with Adam for a number of years on the development of the visitcardiff.com website which now gets almost one million visitors a year. The search engine optimisation of the site was so good that we knew that in Adam we had someone we could really work with so when the City on Show project came to light, we thought it was a marvelous opportunity to showcase Cardiff and drive the agenda of the capital forward.

“The fact that the site is also integrated with the visitcardiff.com website means that we’ve got a rich combination of information, videos and data to help potential visitors to Cardiff make informed decisions about what they want to do.

“From a local business perspective, City on Show offers a cost effective way of developing a rich video content that probably otherwise they couldn’t produce. And the fact that the platform will generate traffic in its own right, and will also benefit from the traffic going to the visitcardiff.com website makes it a unique proposition and one that businesses should seriously consider.

“We’re also delighted that Cardiff is the launch city for City on Show before it is rolled out across the UK and beyond. It is testament to the strength of the businesses that we have here and another platform to promote the great work that is being done in the city.”
