Accountant seconded to help with IFRS transition

A specialist accountant from independent accountancy firm ktsowensthomas has been seconded to the Sports Council for Wales to help with the organisation's transition to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Following an update in the 2008 Budget, government bodies such as the Sports Council are now required to adopt IFRS for their 2009/2010 accounts and as such Amanda Kruger of the South Wales based firm has been brought on board to assist and advise the organisation through the transition from the traditional UK Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) accounts.

Working alongside the internal finance team of the Sports Council, the national organisation responsible for developing and promoting sport and active lifestyles, Amanda will help the team prepare a full set of IFRS accounts for audit in order to meet a September 2009 deadline.

With widespread concern amongst public sector bodies about the wide ranging and complex implications that IFRS brings to the accounting procedure, ktsowensthomas has established a specialist team of accountants to help advise these bodies.

The team, lead by associate director Carol Warburton, has the practical and translatable experience to assist clients move through IFRS transition.
