Veuve Clicquot joins Le Monde to pour at the polo
The St David's Polo Club has secured luxury champagne brand Veuve Clicquot to join Le Monde restaurant in Cardiff as the main sponsors of this year's international polo match at Fonmon Castle.
The charity event which raises money for The Prince’s Trust Cymru will return to Fonmon Castle for the second year on the 28th June.
One of the oldest champagne houses in the world, Veuve Clicquot will be providing spectators from some of Wales’ top businesses with some of the finest champagne from their collection.
This is the 11th year that the St David’s Polo Club has hosted a charity polo match in south Wales, and the event has now firmly established itself as one of the annual highlights of the Welsh social calendar.
On announcing the new sponsorship, Geoff Lloyd, Chairman of St David’s Polo Club says: "The Polo is synonymous with tradition and glamour and any organization that gets involved with this event will immediately benefit from the prestigious reputation of St David’s Polo Club, whilst also fundraising for a worthwhile cause. We are looking forward to forging new relationships as we continue to bring polo to Cardiff and beyond."
In the series of matches this year, the Welsh polo team will take on teams from England, Spain and South America taking up residence for the first time at the Glanusk Estate in Crickhowell on the 18th July and Swansea Bay for beach polo on the 8th August.
Says Owen Davies of champagne distribution company Moet Hennessy: “Veuve Clicquot prides itself on being known as the "Champagne of the Season” and we are thrilled to be part of this year’s match. St David’s Polo is the highlight of the Welsh social calendar and is enjoyed by all including business people and celebrities alike. Equally we are delighted to be supporting such a worthy charity as The Prince's Trust Cymru.”
