COS organises Wales' first Office Supplies Amnesty

A Barry-based offices supplies company is calling for Welsh companies to join them in Wales' first ever Office Supplies Amnesty.

 COS – The Complete Office Solution – is asking companies around south Wales to get involved and donate any surplus, unwanted, redundant or unusable office supplies in a bid to go green and help a UK charity.

Office supplies such as pens, ink cartridges, folders and envelopes that are donated to COS over the summer months will be sorted into ‘usable’, ‘recyclable’ and ‘non-recyclable’.

The usable stationery will be donated to ‘In Kind Direct’, a charity founded by HRH The Prince of Wales in1996, that distributes surplus goods donated by UK companies to hundreds of UK charities working at home or abroad. COS will manage the recycling of any unusable recyclable products, while the non-recyclable office supplies will also be put to good use.

At the end of the year, COS will hold its first ‘waste not, want not’ art exhibition after students from a local college will be given the challenge of creating artwork using the donated office supplies transforming the life of the wasted office supplies.

James Emery, managing director of COS, says: “In a world of diminishing resources the environment is high on every business agenda and as an office supplies company we know that the amount of unwanted stationery that companies acquire and stock can be shocking.

"As a result, we have created the Office Supplies Amnesty, where we plan to help companies to ‘spring clean’ their offices, minimise the impact on the environment, and ultimately, help a really worthwhile charity.”

To take part companies are simply asked to collect their unwanted stationery and contact COS for collection.
