Sports specialists celebrate contract wins
A Cardiff-based sports specialist company is celebrating the start of a new school year after winning a series of contracts with schools across south Wales.
SportStars, a business which specialises in providing high quality sports coaching for children aged 4-12, has secured work with over forty primary schools including Birchgrove Primary, Gabalfa Primary and Glantaff Primary School in Cardiff.
Established by James Taylor, the company’s growth has spiralled since the government’s introduction of structured planning, preparation and assessment (PPA) time for teachers in 2005.
Providing head teachers with a solution for covering this PPA time through structured PE, music and drama lessons, SportStars has grown from securing five contracts in its first year, to working with 150 schools across south Wales and the south West of England.
On winning the additional contracts this year, managing director James Taylor said: “To win over forty new contracts is fantastic news for SportStars and shows that schools are beginning to realize that rather than PPA being a headache, the break in the schedule is actually an amazing opportunity to bring in Sportstars to develop happier and healthier children. Winning these new contracts is down to the quality of service and great results that are sports specialists are achieving.”
Since starting the company, Taylor has won an array of National Business Awards for his rapidly growing company, most recently being named a Young Gun of 2009 by Growing Business magazine and Small Business of the Year in the Nectar Business Small Business Awards.
