Businesses can learn the ropes of effective team building
Wales' largest indoor climbing centre, Boulders, is this month launching a series of adrenaline fuelled corporate packages for training providers looking for alternative team building and personal development facilities.
Based in central Cardiff, the award-winning climbing centre has developed a range of proven, physical activities that hail from the founders Rob Lawrence and Ollie Noakes’ army backgrounds to unlock the true potential of an organisation’s staff.
Programmes are adapted to generate crucial evidence of key skills including application of number, communication, working with others, problem solving and improving own learning and performance, and consist of exercises including ‘cliff hanger’ and ‘mountain rescue’ that are designed to exercise the minds and power of a team rather than fitness and physical strength.
A state-of-the-art meeting room has also been developed to complement the new corporate packages and is fully equipped to cater for 45 delegates.
Rob Lawrence, director at Boulders, says: “The value of taking training out of the classroom and delivering team building and development courses through exciting and challenging mediums is well documented. Climbing is a natural teambuilding activity as it is goal-oriented and requires cooperation, trust, and good communication skills.
“Our training packages will add a great deal of value to any training provider’s syllabus whilst making it easier for them to evidence the attainment of key skills. Our activities are designed not to be too technical or physical yet are fun so the learning process is never arduous. Classroom based discussions and analysis can be incorporated through our state-of-the-art meeting room or the process can be purely experiential depending what the group's aims are.
“The unique nature of Boulders personal development activities means even the most ‘non-sporty’ can take part and excel to achieve peak performance that will benefit the workforce.”
Having used the facilities at Boulders to host a number of team building days for clients, Steve Allcock, managing director of freshbaked Business, says: “The ability to retain learning is more powerful when it is applied and experiential learning exercises like the ones on offer at Boulders are particularly effective. The facilities at Boulders are fantastic and the new specially-developed range of exercises which have been refined from Rob and Ollie’s army background will be an excellent addition to our training repertoire.”
Training providers or organisations that are looking to find out more about the new corporate facilities and packages at Boulders are invited to attend a complimentary taster event. Registration is online at http://www.bouldersclimbingcentre.co.uk/corporate-2/
