Indian restaurant spices up St Davids day

A local Cardiff restaurant is adding a twist to its menu this St Davids Day with a specially created Welsh curry.

India Spice, based on Cowbridge Road East has created a special St David’s Day dish using a blend of welsh ingredients.

The special dish will contain welsh ingredients, including lamb and leek as well as traditional Indian spices including cardamom, ginger, garlic and bay leaves. The special curry will be available on the menu exclusively for St David’s Day.

On creating the dish, head chef, Abdul Salik said: “St David’s Day is a traditional day in the welsh calendar and is always well celebrated throughout Wales. This year we decided to create a curry with an added twist bringing together Welsh products with traditional Indian spices. It has taken a great deal of time and preparation to get the dish spot on and will undoubtedly offer curry lovers a dish with a difference.”

Added restaurant owner Ahmed Saleh: “I am really looking forward to including this new dish on the menu in time for St David’s Day. Our restaurant offers food lovers access to some of the finest cuisine on offer in south Wales. We wanted to offer our customers something different, it has taken a lot of preparation and research by our head chef but it is definitely worth the effort”.
