New chairman is the perfect gift for timto
timto.co.uk, the online children's birthday present service launched earlier this year by a young Welsh entrepreneur, has made a key appointment to its board.
Paul Ragan, former chief executive of South Wales insurance broker Protectagroup and one of Channel 4’s ‘Secret Millionaires’, joins the company as Non-Executive Chairman, just three months after its official launch.
The first of its kind, timto.co.uk, is a children’s birthday gift service established by 28-year-old Luke Cornish from Cardiff.
The online service allows families to create a collective birthday fund for guests to contribute to, which the birthday child can then use to purchase their ultimate ‘wish list’, with the added opportunity of donating a proportion of the fund to charity.
Mr Ragan, who established not-for-profit business consultancy company ‘Collateral Thinking’ in October 2009, now joins timto.co.uk to work alongside Mr Cornish to help grow the business.
With a wealth of experience in building successful enterprises, Mr Ragan previously established Motaquote and expanded the business into the country’s leading, multi-million pound, independent insurance broker.
Already supporting charities including the DCF (Devils Community Foundation), the inner city youth organisation Fairbridge and the Me & Dee charity, Mr Ragan is a well placed addition to timto Ltd, a business which seeks to help make significant contributions to both national and regional charities.
One of a number of businesses to benefit from the experience and expertise of Mr Ragan, timto.co.uk will be the only online start-up to boast the involvement of the entrepreneur.
Mr Ragan said: “This is the first time that I have been involved in an online service like this, an exciting and challenging prospect. Luke has achieved a massive amount in a short space of time, creating a unique and memorable brand for timto.co.uk and building strong relationships with household names including Amazon.co.uk, Mothercare, Red Letter Days and Early Learning Centre.
“Luke’s drive and enthusiasm to succeed will undoubtedly prove crucial in the coming months and I look forward to working with him to take the business to the next level.”
Having already forged links with many charities UK-wide, including the NSPCC, Help for Heroes, CLIC Sargent and National Childbirth Trust, Mr Cornish will now continue to develop the online service, working closely with Mr Ragan to help support the implementation of an ambitious business plan.
Mr Cornish said: “I am delighted to announce Paul’s appointment to timto and I am confident that his involvement in the business will enable us to grow and to maximise timto’s potential. We are confident that with Paul’s advice and support, we can help thousands of children and families to have a great birthday experience and raise millions of pounds for charity”.
