Software contract points driver training company in right direction

A Barry-based driver training company has secured a contract with a local authority in England for the unique software it has developed.

Professional Driver Services has won a contract with Gloucestershire County Council to provide its ATLAS software for the Gloucestershire Driver Improvement Scheme and the National Speed Awareness Scheme.

With 17 local authorities across the UK, which include areas such as Cambridgeshire, Cornwall and Merseyside already using the software, PDS was awarded the contract, following a competitive tender against a number of UK software suppliers.

The company, who recently marked its end of financial year with record turnover, impressed the panel with its high quality software in addition to its wealth of knowledge and experience in the driver training sector.

On awarding the tender to PDS, Garry Handley of Gloucestershire County Council said: “This contract with Professional Driver Services demonstrates the importance we place on improving road driver safety. We awarded the contract to PDS after they impressed us with their driver training credentials and ability to offer software which meets all of our requirements.”

ATLAS is an administration package developed by PDS to provide a one‐stop application for the complete processing of all administration activities for schemes including the National Driver Improvement Scheme, National Speed Awareness Scheme and Fleet and Corporate Driver Training.

The system enables referring authorities, clients and PDS administrators to connect to the same system and share information regarding the referral process.

Continued Garry: “The software offers a broad range of functionality for all users and will help speed up the administration processes in addition to simplifying the existing procedures currently in place. We look forward to implementing ATLAS into our offices and working closely with PDS to offer a first class, high quality service.”

On the contract win, creator of ATLAS and director of PDS Stephen Davies said: “The development and implementation of Atlas has placed us at the cutting edge of the industry’s administration procedures. “Since launching the product on the market we have witnessed a growing number of local authorities and police authorities choosing to use ATLAS because of its ability to be used over a broad range of road safety initiatives. Our software offers users the very best in administration software and is able to connect all users to the same system, simplifying the process for all involved making more efficient working.”

Established in 2002, by Kath Bevan and Stephen Davies, PDS is dedicated to improving road safety and specialises in public and private sector fleet driver training, speed awareness, minibus training and National Driver Offender Retraining Schemes (NDORS).

The company is also IS0:9001 accredited and is one of only 18 Driving Standards Agency (DSA) approved National Fleet Diploma Training Organisations.
