Top divorce lawyer adds another string to her bow

A leading Welsh divorce lawyer has added another string to her bow by receiving a special accreditation for her work with domestic abuse cases.

Sophie Hughes, Head of the Family Team at Newport and Pontypool-based Watkins & Gunn Solicitors, was the first family lawyer in South Wales to get Resolution accreditation for small and big money cases and now adds domestic abuse to her portfolio of specialisms.

Sophie received the third accreditation from Resolution, the pre-eminent organisation of specialist family lawyers in England and Wales. Sophie, 44, originally from Cardiff has worked in family law for over 19 years, dealing with complex cases involving assets running into millions of pounds; whilst supporting women and men more widely in abusive relationships.

Resolution is a national organisation of accredited family lawyers committed to non-confrontational divorce, separation and other family problems. Only lawyers who have achieved the highest standards in particular areas of expertise receive accreditation.
