PR Resources

It is important that photography not only tells the story, but is high quality enough for it to be published.

While freshbaked™ PR would always recommend using the services of a professional photographer, if you decide to take your own pictures, here are a few useful tips:

  • Composition - anyone with a decent digital camera can take a photograph but what they don’t always get right is the composition. Make sure that your subject matter fills the picture area.
  • Avoid busy pictures - concentrate on the subject matter and avoid or remove irrelevant items which interfere with the subject matter.
  • Think creatively when composing your picture. Instead of shooting at eye level, try shooting overhead, waist-level or ground-level.
  • Dress - make sure people are dressed appropriately and convey the right message about your organization.
  • Number of people - avoid taking photographs of large groups of people, try to limit the amount of people to five
  • Comparative sizes - if taking a picture of a very small object, try to give an indication of size if this is not obvious. Small objects should be posed with something that demonstrates how small it is, such as a human hand.
  • Make sure your pictures are colourful.
  • Make sure if you are taking photos of people, they look animated yet natural
