Fresh approach to Race for Life

Fresh approach to Race for Life

In addition to the 21 ladies, six children and one dog ran the 5k race around Tredegar House in Newport to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Having smashed the £1,000 target in sponsorship, the team made up of staff from across all of freshbaked’s six divisions walked, jogged and ran the race in custom designed team t-shirts in support of the UK’s leading charity, which is dedicated to researching cancer.

Since 1994, over four million women, all ages and fitness abilities have taken part in Race for Life, making it the largest women only fundraising event in the UK.

On the race, freshbaked’s HR director Kate Matthews said: “So many of us have been affected by cancer in one way or another and Race for Life was the perfect opportunity for us to raise plenty of money for this worthwhile cause.

“It was a challenge to complete the race with small children, pushchairs and even a dog in tow especially as the ground was so muddy due to the rain, but knowing that the money helps continue to support ground breaking research into cancer meant we were even more determined than ever to cross the finish line!”

Added Richard Matthews, managing director of freshbaked Group: “It is fantastic that freshbaked was able to take part and support such an important charity like Cancer Research UK. Race for Life is a great way to help fund the charity’s life saving work and the girls have raised a staggering sum of money.”

Established in 2004, the freshbaked Group comprises of freshbaked training, freshbaked corporate, freshbaked business, freshbaked communications, freshbaked PR and design agency limegreentangerine.
